San Fransisco, that is.  Didn’t go for any particular reason, just a vacation with the BF and myself.

Well, to start, we stopped briefly by Santa Cruz, a beachside community about an hour south.  And while at the Beach Boardwalk, a carnival amusement area, we ran across the following game.

Pretty awesome.  I guess the point was to aim a stream of water at their feet, thereby “washing” them clean.  I’d rather use a tongue, but to each their own.

Next was something I’ve been wanting to try ever since I was a young adult, and even before I realized I was into gunge.  An immersive spa mud bath.  Now, I’m not really a spa person, so I thought you could get this done basically anywhere.  Turns out that’s not the case.  I don’t know about elsewhere, but at least in California, there’s only one place, and that’s in the city of Calistoga, which is about 20 minutes north of Napa.  (The Glen Ivy Spa in Southern California says they have them too, but they’re not of the immersive style.)

The tub of mud.  The board stuck in it is to rest your head against.

I’m not going to lie… I almost thought I’d get hard.  I didn’t, and I think there were a few reasons:

  1. The temperature.  They actually keep the mud quite hot.  And if you move around too much, it gets uncomfortably warm.
  2. The smell.  They do warn you there is a sulfur smell, due to the minerals in the mud (which is supposed to “detoxify”).  Frankly, it wasn’t as bad as I imagined it’d be.  Then again, I also enjoy the smell of stinky feet, so perhaps I’m not exactly the best judge of this.
  3. Time.  You’re only given about 10-15 minutes, and they check up on you.  The semi-panic of wondering when a stranger (and in my case, a woman) is going to interrupt you doesn’t really let you get too kinky.

That said… aside from the temperature, it was pretty much everything I thought it’d be.  The texture was amazing.  Not too solid, and not to liquid–the blend is just right.  And you are buried up to your neck, and you are floating in it.  (In fact, they advise you not to touch the floor, as that is what heats it up.)

Sinking in…
Just a tease.

Overall, it was a great, relaxing, and kinky time.  And it was an item checked off my bucket list.  If you are interested, there are a number of locations of mud spas in Calistoga. Just google it.

Of course, no trip to San Francisco for a kinkster would be complete without a trip to Mr. S.  I currently own a neoprene sleepsack, which I love, but at the time we bought it, there was only one size, and to be honest, it’s big on me.  I was curious to try on something the correct size.  So while I was there, I wanted to try on the Deluxe Sleepsack.  May as well go big, right?  Which meant I had to strip down right in the store.  I did retain a bit of modesty and kept my underwear on (to the disappointment of the store employee, lol).  Still, my BF managed to take a few pics of me in it for your entertainment.

As much as we love it, we didn’t get one, as it’s very expensive.  Plus, we’d want it customized.  The BF wants nipple access, I may want a suspension option, and something that’s not on the list but we inquired about, an option to have feet access (which, as it turns out, is something they can do, you just have to ask for it).  But since we didn’t make a big purchase, we did indulge in a bit of collar play.  Our relationship is not really Master/slave, but it’s just a hot look regardless.  Hope you agree!
Finally, after all this kinky play, on the recommendation of a blog reader, we visited The Armory, better known as the headquarters of kink.com.  This is where they film for Bound Gods, Bound in Public, Men on the Edge, Butt Machine Boys, and Naked Kombat.  Keeping that in mind, do these sets look familiar?
One of my favorites.  And yes, they do allow photos to be taken, so I’m not breaking any rules here.
The building is also genuinely historical, being originally built in 1912-14 for the National Guard, so the geek side can be just as entertained as the kink side.  The only bummer is that we kinda forgot that the umbrella site of kink.com is largely straight, so the gay sites don’t get too much notice.  But it’s still pretty damn cool regardless, and I recommend it.  We were also told that James Franco & Heather Graham filmed a movie there called Cherry, which is (unsurprisingly) about a young woman’s journey into the kink porn world. If you haven’t heard of it, no worries, as of this writing, it’s not out yet, and won’t be for a few more months.
They give tours nearly every day, but you have to schedule it in advance, so check it out next time you’re in the area!  You can also visit Behind Kink for some interesting behind the scenes info.
