Thank goodness for the Recon iPhone app.  While on a recent visit to Orange County, I checked it at random, just for fun.  Imagine my surprise when I saw Metalbond, author of the amazing blog of the same name, less than a mile from me.  My jaw nearly dropped.  Since he lives in New York, this was pretty unexpected.  Since we have talked before, and he’s always been a great supporter of my blog, I decided to drop him a message.  Long story short, he was in the area for a work event, but we were able to work out having dinner a few hours later.

I must say, this is one of those unexpected perks I get by doing this blog.  When I had walked out of the house that morning, never had I dreamed I’d be chatting with one of the top fetish bloggers in the community later that night.  He was a real delight to talk with.  We were able to discuss memorable posts, what it’s like to blog, who we’ve met (and would like to), and just generally find out more about each other.  No, a scene didn’t happen… he was already quite scheduled in that area, and I definitely respected his plans.  And to a certain degree I actually enjoy just being social with kinky guys and finding out more about the person behind the blog, profile, or social media, especially the first time I meet someone.  He was a very nice guy, and I know I’d definitely like to talk with him more.  In a way, you can experience a bit of this by listening to this interview he did on the No Safe Word podcast (a show worth listening to in general) some time ago.

One question that came up was who we’ve each met with, and it made me realize I’ve met more established kink figures than I ever thought I would.  Atlloki (scroll down the post), TheUAJock (you’ll be hearing more from him at the end of this month), James T. Medak (interview here and here, but we have meet in person), SaltLakeFootman (still have yet to post about that one… heh heh heh), and I even got tied up by Kevin from Bondage Jeopardy.  I still have a few more on my list… I’m looking at you, tallglassofoj and thesneakerboy.  One day, I promise.  And Christian Wilde, even though we’ve never talked, you’re a fantasy for me.  There are countless others, some well known in the community, and some well known to me because we’ve talked for a long time.  You know who you are.

Anyway, I have to thank Metalbond for taking time out of his schedule to meet with me.  It was a really unexpected treat!
