With tumblr now gone, where have most kinky bloggers gone?  Well, it’s been a scramble, with no real clear consensus.

Most have migrated to twitter.  It’s a pretty easy transition, as many kinky blogs had a twitter account anyway.  Now it can get more use.  I know I’ve seen an uptick in my twitter followers as of late, and I’m pretty sure the tumblr situation has accounted for much of that.

Fortuneately, as I host my own blog, I’m in no danger of shutting down from outside forces, unless I myself decide to shut it down.  Which, unless unforeseen circumstances come up, I don’t plan to do any time soon.

Some have asked me how much it costs to run and host your own blog.  You’ll find many don’t allow adult content, even if hosting yourself.  But I will say it does cost me about $150-$300 a year.  Remember, I do run and host not one, but two blogs… this one and capturedheroesblog.com.  Hosting a single blog would be about half.  Costs vary due to monthy hosting fees, domain name registrations, and privacy protection.

That’s a bit more than many would care to spend.  I just make it look easy, right?  🙂  (Remember, you can support me by purchasing your kinky items using the links on the right sidebar.)  The great thing about tumblr, aside from the ability to share and see so much content, is that it was free.  But as I noted in some tweets, I’ve noticed that most free services eventually crack down on the adult content.  It happened with BlogSpot (remember them, anyone?), now tumblr.  I could see it eventually happening to twitter too… so enjoy that ride for as long as we can, but I won’t be surprised if that changes one day down the line as well.

Really, adult content is going to have to run to adult oriented websites, like Xtube, Pornhub, and the like.  Aside from twitter, the blog I’m seeing pop up the most often is bdsmlr.com.  Which seems to be a natural progression.  While I haven’t signed up for it myself, it may be worth a try.  Let me know your experiences with it, and good luck to all future bloggers!
