I don’t generally post too much about my personal life, but I did recently tweet this:
I did want to explain a bit more about it. Forgive me that I can’t go into too much detail for personal privacy reasons, but you’ll get the gist of it.
First off, there are some dramatic things at work. I won’t go into detail, but if you look into recent news stories in Los Angeles, there’s been an ongoing event that’s been hard to ignore. On one hand, I’m a part of a relatively historical event, and in a sense, there’s a large sense of pride, inspiration, and a great feeling of support and solidarity. However, simultaneously, it’s been stressful, tiring, and incredibly sad that events have come to what they have. While I am currently going without pay, I do have a financial reserve set aside, so fortunately I don’t have to worry too much about that (thanks to Susie Orman planning, lol). As I write this on Thursday (so it could be ready to go by today), there’s no real update and I have no idea how much longer this situation will last. There is a possibility it could be done soon, but I could also imagine it lasting another week or more–there’s some very serious clashes going on.
As if that weren’t enough, I have a number of friends a family going through various medical issues of varying degrees of seriousness. First off, I have a close female friend going through breast cancer. She happily does not need chemo, just radiation treatments (relatively good news under the circumstances). Another female friend had to undergo some preventative surgery in her throat. Yet another friend is quitting her job and is very stressed about it, and as if that weren’t enough, another friend who lives in another state recently had a stroke and is in the hospital.
Then one elderly family member fractured their shoulder (they’ll be okay, but did need care), and another family member, who is very elderly, frail, and suffering through dementia recently fell and hurt their spine. Amazingly, given their frail condition, they’re doing remarkably well, but it was quite scary. However, what’s worse, is their immediately family is not really prepared to deal with this.
Nearly all of this happened in the last few weeks, with about half of it in literally the last week. So it’s been quite a bit. Fortunately, updating this blog is a relatively simple proposition for me… I have so many post already prepped and ready to go, I just choose 7 for the week and set up the posting times. It doesn’t take long.
But lately, when I’ve been browsing twitter, I’m just not into all the kink I’m seeing. Sometimes regular life intercedes. I still visit twitter at times as it can be a distraction, but at the moment, it isn’t all that important to me. Once this all settles down, I can be more engaged.
