I posted a long time ago about what music I like to listen to for a scene. My husband oddly used to enjoy just total silence, but even now he agrees playing music has it’s advantages: it can better put you in a headspace where you may not be as distracted by other noises (sniffles, coughs, the air conditioner, traffic, etc.), and if the sub is blindfolded, they aren’t as easily able to hear the Dom moving around the room. Also, if you have to play in a hotel room (as I often do), it’ll help cover up any noise so your neighbors don’t hear too much moaning, spanking, etc.
I actually enjoyed some CD’s that Mr. S used to sell from DJ Arcana. Sadly, then don’t seem to carry them anymore, and I don’t see them on iTunes anymore. I enjoyed them because they had a strong beat with relatively very few lyrics to get distracted by. We also found some other musical artists we liked from groups called Byetone and Tommy Four Seven, which we linked too and included some samples songs here.
But for a while, I’ve seen many Doms who seem to enjoy outfitting their subs with large headphones. I’ve never tried that, and I do wonder what they typically play. I finally got to ask a fellow His Master’s Voice, (pic below, along with point8–same sub, though… which is a sub I’ve played with as well, lol).
And his answer? Nothing. He generally doesn’t play anything. They’re just used as earmuffs, to mute sound for the sub. That way the Dom can move around and set things up, or tease/abuse the sub, and he essentially won’t hear it.
I think if you were a sub looking for a long term bondage scene, this would be an amazing way to enter headspace with white noise playing. You’d eventually lose track of all time, and be left to wonder exactly how long you’d be left there. Combine that with being blindfolded, and you’d feel quite isolated and helpless. Which for many, is half the fun, even if nothing else is happening to them. That mental headspace is all that’s neeeded.
For me personally, though, I’m not as into long term bondage. Plus, I really enjoy being verbal… and if a sub has these headphones on, it could be very difficult for them to hear me. (Short of setting up a system where they could hear my voice via a microphone… but while that does indeed sound fun, it may be getting more technical to pull off.) It’s why I tend to lean to just playing the music throughout the space.
But I can see that allure. If anyone has any thoughts or experiences in this to share, please let me know!
