I haven’t been too outspoken about this, because this is primarily a kinky blog, not a political blog. Also, plenty has been said already. But this is a big issue, and of course black lives matter. Some of the favorite media I’ve seen about this so far:

The woman in the tweet above, Jane Elliot, is the same woman who did the famous brown eye/blue experiment in the 60s, which is still incredibly relevant today. See a powerful sample below… the tweet has a link to the full hour long version. I encourage you to see it… I know I had to watch it in school as a child, and I still remember it vividly.

That one above has been one of my favorites. And, of course, we can’t overlook our gay pride connection to black lives:

While I fully support Black Lives Matter and equality across the board, I quickly recognize that it’s not as simple as a protest and some Instagram posts. After all, Los Angeles had similar riots in 1992 with Rodney King (along with a history of countless others in this country), and here we are again… has much changed with the system since then?

Sadly, I don’t think it has much. Because the ways to change the system are buried very deep, under massive layers of protected bureaucracy. I mean, we’re talking the entirely of the US justice system: police, training, bias, courts, lawyers, judges, jails, government… and they’re all intertwined and culpable. A protest is not likely to undo all that with just one snap of the fingers.

Change will likely take a long time, but it will be worth the wait. In the meantime, here are some resources where you can help support: https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/
