I’ve been noticing lately that Twitter (I refuse to call it X) is becoming more and more unpleasant. Many kinky accounts are posting that they have been locked and/or shadow banned. Even my own Twitter account got locked for “adult” content for the header image (seen below).
Admittedly, it probably isn’t exactly squeaky clean by vanilla standards. I sort of get that. While Twitter does allow adult content to be posted in tweets, the header image and profile pic/avatar cannot be. That said, I did have that same pic in my profile header practically ever since I started my account there in 2011 without any incident, so it wasn’t exactly uppermost in my mind. I changed it, and my profile was returned.
Still, with the mess that Elon has created there, it personally won’t surprise me one bit if adult content gets banned flat out at some point in the future. He his making some users pay to post in some countries. It’s a trivial amount, $1 a year, but for me, it’s the principle of the thing. And I do not want to give Elon access to my credit card info, even for just a dollar.
So while at the moment I don’t plan on abandoning twitter, should anything happen, please follow me on Bluesky! I know it isn’t perfect (at the moment, you can only post pics, no video, and there’s no DMs). But it does allow adult content, and seems to be a much friendlier and sane place. And you can still see my original header pic there, haha. I’m generally posting all I post on Twitter there as well.
Yes, you do need an invite. I get one every two weeks. I’ll do my best to share them, but keep in mind even if just 4 people ask me for one, that’s already a 2 month wait.
