eBay proves to be the site of many fascinating books. Just when I thought I’d seen it all, this one popped up. I’m assuming it was “intended” to be primarily an educational book, but that’s likely a very thin guise to be able to print titillating pictures in a time when that wasn’t as socially acceptable.
Unfortunately, eBay now has pretty strict rules about what can and can’t be shown, so the person who listed this book had to get pretty creative about cutting out the scandalous parts. But it’s enough to get the idea. Based on the little research I found, it was from 1970. There was also a volume 2, but that seemed to focus primarily on lesbians (though that may be of interest to some!).
It should be noted that if you look carefully at the table of contents, not all the content was gay. There was a fair amount of hetero stuff… which brings into question about who this book was for. It could be surmised they were trying to lure in straight guys, or perhaps bi or gay curious men. But for a book called “The Gay Americans”, it’s peculiar there’s so much straight and female content.
