If you’ve been seeing in the news, Los Angeles is in the middle of some very dramatic fires. We had some extremely strong, dry, unusually powerful winds, and multiple fires began simultaneously. The two largest by far are the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire (named for their areas where they originated).
We live relatively closer to the Eaton fire, but not close enough to be evacuated. However, once we lost power (and internet) and it stayed out overnight, we did decide to temporarily relocate to some family away from the fires so we could have power and wifi. After staying spending one day and night there, we got word our power had returned. We are currently home and all is fine, and while the fire is still raging, we are not currently in any danger, so we are hoping we can remain here. And the air, while not perfect, is not as bad as we were expecting.
With personal crisis averted (as of right now), it did turn out that just before we evacuated, I got a pair of Nike Air Max Plus TNs that I had ordered from eBay. I’m generally not into fashionable sneaks (I’m a more practical guy, haha), I did decide I wanted at least one sexy pair. And I do have to admit, they are very comfortable, and look much better on me than I expected. They do need to be stinked up and marked with my rank foot stench (naturally), so I’ll be working on them.
This purchase was semi-inspired by BoyRyan54 (who can be found on both X and Bluesky). He doesn’t really have a shoe fetish, but does have a healthy collection of TNs, so I guessed it swayed me a bit. But I put my own spin on it by going for a blue color, which just fits my personality a bit more.
