I was listening to NPR and caught a special they did on the foot. Specifically, a fossilized bone that’s been discovered to be the evolution of the foot as we know it today. It gets a bit dry at the end, but I still love their description of the foot as:
“If the human foot were a building, it would be a cathedral: Twenty-six bones and more than 100 muscles and tendons form an arched limb that’s stiff, but also elastic.”
The pictures in the article seem to be of female feet, but it’s still an interesting article nevertheless. And kinda fun to hear about feet in mainstream science. Read (and hear) all about it here.
