I had some social media posts about this movie, but in case you missed them, here’s a recap:

Babygirl is a mainstream movie written and directed by Halina Reijn (a female director who also directed–but didn’t write–the horror comedy movie Bodies Bodies Bodies). It explores two people exploring a Dom/sub dynamic for their first time.

In terms of eye candy with Harris Dickinson, there’s a few shirtless scenes, and he’s barefoot for a scant few scenes (no sole shots aside from walking). And all the scenes are towards the final 1/3 of the film.

In terms of kink, it’s quite interesting. Though hetero, it examines a verbal Dom/sub dynamic with some minor humiliation. Unfortunately, no bondage to anyone at any point in the movie. And so for people more experienced in kink, this would be quite mild. But overall I feel it’s a respectful and relatively honest (though imperfect) look at the topic—especially for a mainstream film.

The characters are flawed people, and exploring this sort of dynamic for their first time, so they aren’t perfect, and make some mistakes along the way, especially as they figure out boundaries and safe words. People more experienced in kink would certainly have minor issues. But many of us know that mainstream films very, very often give egregiously incorrect errors and attitudes about kink and fetish. This movie truly seemed like it was trying to be as honest as possible, and I appreciated that.

The LA Times had a sex expert look at the film Babygirl… and they seem to agree with me. The movie is not a textbook example of a perfect Dom/sub relationship, but it is a good example at people trying to figure out it, while making honest missteps along the way.
